Magazine profile
New Zealand Sport Flying is the official magazine of Sport Aircraft Association NZ Incorporated
(SAANZ). The magazine was established more than 30 years ago to promote education and
safety in all sport aviation activities.
Sport Flying is a quarterly magazine with Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn editions, edited
by aviation writer John King.
Articles and photographic contributions
Material in the magazine is contributed by journalists, aerospace engineers, designers,
constructors, pilots and restorers of all forms of aircraft. Contributions on all topics relating to
custom-built aircraft and recreational flying are welcome. While no payment is made, each
contributor receives 2 free copies of the magazine in which their material appears.
Distribution
Subscription copies are distributed via direct mail to more than 650 sport aviation enthusiasts in the
homebuilt, microlight, vintage, classic and recreational aircraft categories. The magazine is also
available through selected retail outlets, averaging sales of a further 500 copies per month.
Many readers of New Zealand Sport Flying are not actively building or flying an aircraft. They are,
however, enthusiastic participants, spectators and supporters of sport aviation activities.
SAANZ members receive a copy of New Zealand Sport Flying as part of their association membership.
