In Flight Weather
Airways and MetService have agreed the protocols and processes to make the
METAR AUTO reports from unattended locations where there are scheduled
services available in-flight, on request, from all Airways air traffic
service workstations. The locations for which reports will be provided are:
HK, KK, MO, MS, OU, PP, AP, TU, WF, WU, WS, WK, WR.
Reports will be provided via AFTN to Airways every half hour between the
hours of 1700UTC-0800UTC but if required, Airways will be able access to the
METAR AUTO reports outside those hours for SAR and emergency services
purposes.
This information is available to pilots in-flight on request and will be
available from Tuesday 0500 1 June 2010 (NZST). Any requests for pre-flight
information will be referred to MetService.
Remember that the ATIS reports for attended locations are also available
from all Airways air traffic service workstations.
For all pre-flight weather briefing, go to the MetService website
http://metflight.metra.co.nz and obtain the weather appropriate to your
flight.
File your flight plan via the Airways IFIS website.
